What is iron cross training, and what equipment do I need to get started?
If you’re looking for an exercise that will put your ultimate gymnastics strength to the test, then iron cross training is for you. It’s a fitness and gymnastics movement that can take years to develop and master, but the results reward you with mesmerising upper body strength and power.
When using iron cross equipment, you’ll need to attach these handles to your ordinary ring straps. Once they are set up, place your arms horizontally into each attachment, so that your body is in a cross position. Using your core, shoulder and lats, hold the handles and use your shoulders to pull yourself up until your arms are fully vertical, and your body raised. Slowly lower yourself down from this position until you are in a locked out ‘Cross’.
